"To be nobody-but-yourself in a world which is doing its best, night and day, to make you everybody else means to fight the hardest battle which any human being can fight; and never stop fighting," wrote poet e.e. cummings who created his own style of poetry and art.
Ever since I was a kid I loved e.e. cummings style of writing and poetry. One of his telltale trademarks was writing in all lower case letters. I admired his courage to express his individuality in this way and for a couple of years in high school I wrote my essays and poetry in all lower case letters. Needless to say my english teachers did NOT approve even though my writing and grammar was perfect. I didn't have the capital letters where they were 'supposed' to be. I was such a rebel! Lol!
From time to time today I still write in all lower case letters. The rebel is still alive!
It may not always be easy to allow yourself first to feel and then to express your true self in whatever medium works for you. But when you do, you open the door to help others free themselves to express their individuality too. That is a courageous and beautiful thing!
Have the courage to feel today - express your true self. Write a poem or heartfelt note, make a difficult phone call, hug someone you've been meaning to hug, whistle while you walk, or sing a song out loud.
